Note: 5 College Credits are available from MSU College of Technology for completion of FF1 and 2. Click here for more info.
Read and follow the instructions contained therein carefully.
Complete the entire Test Booklet, with the exception of the inside back cover, being sure only "authorized" evaluators who have proctor forms on file with FSTS are used. There is no specific sequence in which the CTDB must be completed.
Attach (via staple or tape) all documentation required by the instructions at the point where requested in the Booklet.
Have your department chief or training officer contact an FSTS representative and determine a mutually agreeable test date and location for the FSTS administered portion of the examination.
During the FSTS administered portion, candidates will be provided three opportunities to perform each tactic while operating with a crew and under command. Satisfactory performance must be demonstrated on each tactic to meet the standard.
The FSTS test administrator must sign off on completed tactics inside the back cover of the candidate's Test Booklet upon satisfactory performance of each tactic.
An additional fee may be required for repeated attempts when the additional expenses are incurred by FSTS for test administration.
When all sections of the CTDB have been completed, return the Test Document to FSTS or give it to a representative of FSTS. Be certain to keep a copy for your records.
Upon review of a satisfactorily completed CTDB, FSTS will issue a certification to the candidate.
Testing Testing facilities, apparatus, equipment, supplies, and support personnel are the responsibility of the candidate and his/her organization.
Candidates and those preparing them for the test, should be certain to study the conditions for the test described in the Training in Context/Coaching Methodology Guide and in the Test Evaluator's Guide.
Testing Time Limits The entire testing process must be completed with 18 months. Once the FSTS administered portion of the test has begun, it must be completed within 9 months.
The start date is the first test documented in the CTDB and the finish date is the latest date entered in the CTDB.
Evidence of Success A certificate and shoulder patch will be issued to those who are successful in achieving a fire fighter certification.
Additional and replacement certificates and patches may be purchased from FSTS.
