"As a non-traditional student it was nice to know that there were scholarships out there for me also. The scholarship that I received lessened the amount of hours I would have had to work to support my family, and that in turn gave me more quality time with my family. Another great benefit of the scholarship is it has lowered the amount of money I would have had to borrow to get my degree."

"MSU was the ideal school for me because of the personal interaction with professors and the financial assistance I was given. The scholarships I received from both the college of engineering and the music department were an enormous help in allowing me to focus on the demands of a rigorous college schedule. My success at MSU is attributed both to the mentors I found in the university's faculty and the scholarships I received."

"Scholarships were an invaluable component of my academic experience at MSU. Scholarships allowed me to concentrate on my studies without having to worry about finances. Competitive scholarships encouraged me to take more difficult classes and to study harder. As an undergraduate who wanted to go on to graduate school, I knew I had to distinguish myself academically from other strong students with high GPAs at MSU. Scholarships provided me with another dimension to demonstrate my academic potential to graduate programs."

"I wouldn't have come to MSU if it weren't for my scholarships. I'm from Washington, and my parents are both public school teachers, so there's no way we could have afforded out-of-state tuition. Winning a presidential scholarship not only solidified my decision to attend MSU, but it enabled me to broaden my academic pursuits as well. I will soon graduate with two degrees: a B.S. in Industrial Engineering and a B.A. in French. My scholarships enabled me to focus on my studies rather than having to divide my time between a job and school. I was also able to spend a year studying abroad in France. Although I funded this myself, it would have never been possible had it not been for my scholarships freeing up money that would otherwise go toward MSU tuition. It's difficult to imagine what it would have been like without my scholarships. I know one thing's for sure: I wouldn't have been an MSU student."
