For all of you out there who are thinking, "Hey, this Internet thing is pretty cool, but how can I make a career out of it?"
Well, here's your opportunity to meet some Montana folks who are doing just that.
If you know somebody who would make a good Career Profile, let me know. Or better yet, why don't you interview them and let us know what you find out? I'll help you make a Web page about them!
Julie Seewald Bornhoeft grew up in Cut Bank, Montana and was in 4-H for many years. Now, she lives in Sacramento, California but works for a Montana organization as a grant writer. Julie uses the Internet to do research, and to make it possible to work for people many miles away. She works at home and sets her own hours. Sounds cool, huh?
Joel Jaeggli, originally from Bozeman, works for the University of Oregon and provides support and instruction for 30,000 computer users. His responsiblities include the installation, configuration and maintenance of systems which provide services such as anonymous ftp, news services, web servers and high performance computing resources. Joel also teaches people about computer systems (and he knows a lot about online multiple player games!)
Michelle Larson of Bozeman maintains a Web page about activity on the Sun! She downloads photos from a satellite orbiting the Sun, posts them on a Web page and makes lessons about the Sun. Her Web site even has a movie theater!
Brenda Seewald is an admissions counselor at Western Montana College and uses the Internet to find out about high schools in Montana she is planning to visit! She has lots of advice about what computer skills you should have before entering college and what you can learn once you get there.
