The Story mansion is a very historical reference, because it is one of the last standing monuments in town.  Although the Story Mansion is very old and needs to be fixed up, we should not waste so much money on it.  We think putting another million into it to fix it is a waste.  We could put in parks, soccer fields, football fields, and we could get supplies for school  Our group thinks Bozeman should not tear it down, but not waste the money either.

Our group thinks that we should preserve buildings, because historical buildings might have historical artifacts still held in them.  Our group will now tell you about some historic buildings in Bozeman.  One historical building downtown is the old Opera House which was unfortunately torn down by the city, because the city needed more room for the town.  Two other historical buildings are the two Story mansions  One mansion belonged to Nelson Story, and the city did not have enough money to pay for its upkeep s o they knocked it down.  The other Story mansion belonged to T. Byron Story which is still around.  We all think we should preserve historical buildings, because they can tell mighty tales of the past.

We think historical preservation is important, because in the future other kids like us can learn about the history of their town.  For example, you could turn the Story Mansion into a museum.  Other types of historical buildings could tell about the history of Bozeman.  Old buildings probably would not be energy efficient.  So they could show how global warming  started and why.  Some people didn’t want to preserve historic houses so they remodeled them or trashed them and ruined them.  Remodeling can be a good thing and can serve to save a historic house.  It could even help to preserve a new home cause it could become historical.  That’s why it’s important to preserve historical homes.

We should save Montana history.  Preserving documents and buildings is important to our economic future.  People in Bozeman will appreciate our  historic buildings like the Story Mansion, the Baxter Hotel, and the Opera House sites.  Even though the continuation of these buildings and documents costs money and time, citizens of Bozeman now and in the future will always enjoy (and should support) these informative, historic  structures.  Plus, they’re beautiful!  There are a lot of supporting opinions for saving our history!

One hundred years from now if you looked back on the history of Bozeman, Montana, you would find books with Bozeman’s history, but you wouldn‘t have any physical evidence.   Historic preservation helps to keep the feeling of old Bozeman alive.  Things and places like the Story Mansion, the Baxter Hotel, Samuel Lewis’ house, and Longfellow School are a few examples.  Everybody has their own opinion about where Bozeman’s money should have gone.  We’re glad that historic preservation exists in Bozeman, Montana.  Bozeman is rich in history, and we would like to keep it that way.

The T. Byron Story Mansion is by far one of the coolest buildings in Bozeman.  We think the Story Mansion should be preserved for people to come and tour it.  If enough People n Bozeman gave money for the Story Mansion to be fixed up, it could be really cool.  Designers could look at the history of the Story Mansion and design it how it used to be.  During Halloween they could make the Story Mansion into a haunted house and use the money from that  for antique furniture to put inside to make it look close to how it used to be.  So who wouldn’t preserve seventeen rooms of pure history for their kids to see?

We want to preserve historical buildings like the T. Byron Story
mansion, the Samuel Lewis house, and so many more.  This will help you
get the "inside scoop" on the facts about the houses and the people who
lived there.  We think that the historic preservation people should turn
the T. Byron Story mansion into a museum so people could see the house
while getting a lot of facts about the people who lived there and what
they did.  We also want to preserve historical buildings so future
people could see how the houses were like in the past.  If we tear down
the buildings then no one will have the information that they would if
we kept them up.  That is why we should preserve the historical
buildings.

Historic Preservation
We should restore historical buildings, because if we have  good and historical buildings still standing our children can also see them like we did.  If we tear down historical buildings no one will see them in the next generation. Historical buildings will remind  us to appreciate the knowledge that they have to share with all of us. Our class went to the T B Story Mansion and learned a whole lot about the Story’s lives.  If we still had the Opera House we would know so much more about Bozeman’s history.  That’s why we should keep historical buildings alive and well.
