In 1935 James Edwin miller got in some kind of rage and shot Henery
Sustello in the abdomen against the spine. Later Sustella died in
surgery. Miller was
arraigned in court on November 1. it was a Friday to be exact. The
trial was
set for the 12th of November. Sustella was supposedly playing cards at
the
time of the murder. Well that’s the saga of James Edwin Miller.
Business Reports
Vargo’s Jazz City and Books
By James Baldwin & Drake Phillips
This is about Drake’s and my work experience.
You gotta read this. We straightened boxes for Mr. Vargo.
Later, we
would put them in the recycling bin. It may not sound like much,
but
I personally had a blast. That was Drake’s and my
experience. Stay tuned – there’s more!
This is about Vargo’s history. Vargo’s started
in 1984. Mr. Vargo and his wife started this business
together. He, Mr. Vargo, has had Vargo’s Jazz City and Books in
different locations which were by Bagelworks, on the corner of Main and
Tracy, and now on Main Street. These are Vargo’s names: Vargo’s
Book Store and what it is now,
Vargo’s Jazz City and Books. That is some of Vargo’s history.
This describes Vargo’s. They sell books, CD’s,
and greeting cards. Greeting cards is what they sell the most of
in
Vargo’s. A book signed by Ernest Hemingway cost $2,500, just to
let
you know. That’s a description of Vargo’s.
These are Mr. Vargo’s opinions about some
things. Mr. Vargo decided to locate his business on Main because
of the active walkers and downtown’s busy. Vargo’s competitors
are opposing book stores, mostly
chain stores. He, Mr. Vargo, said that Barnes and Nobles and Borders
were
his main worries. Those are some opinions from Mr. Vargo.
Bozeman To Other Cities
Comparing Bozeman to Bryson City, N.C.
by Drake
I really like Bozeman and I’m going to tell you why.
For one, Bozeman has a lot less crime compared to other big cities. The
fall colors in Bozeman are spectacular! In big cities normally you
would look up
and see buildings but in Bozeman you see only trees. Another thing I
love about Bozeman is there’s not a high population.
There are also great things about Bryson City, N.C.
In Bryson there are also very few crimes. The mountains in Bryson are
amazing. A big reason why I like Bryson is my grandparents live there.
You may not expect it but the mountains in Bryson have amazing
wildlife.
I personally would rather live in Bozeman than
Bryson City. One reason is I have a great house in Bozeman. I have a
great location for my house. In Bozeman I have a zillion good friends.
Now I have told you why I prefer Bozeman over Bryson City.

Dear Drake,
Hey kiddo! I’m going to tell you about
myself. In October of 1889, the city held on opening night at the
Bozeman Hotel. That building was right across the street from
me. Can you believe that
people built a bridge from the Bozeman Hotel to me so the women
wouldn’t get
their dresses dirty in the mud? They tore me down in the
1960’s. The reason they tore me down was because they didn’t
value old stuff as much as they do now, and believe me I was very old.
What I think they should do with my site is make a
stand and put table cloths everywhere they make this park, and make
this area a family picnic area. I think we should do this
because; for starters it’s a great picnic area. Number two, it
would be a great place to have
lunch, and it wouldn’t be expensive. Also, you would be able to
eat
outside.
Sincerely,
The Opera House
Historical Fiction
John Bozeman
By
Drake Phillips
John Bozeman here. All right, I came here to
talk about my history, so let’s get talking. I got in a few
fights, farmed a bit, and gambled a lot. I can remember that I
visited some of my friends
in Indian tribes. When I would go out, I would go out for long
periods
of time. Every once in a while I would go to church, and I now
know
I should have gone more, but I didn’t, and I’m sad about it. I
must
get on with life. Later in my life, I was in Nelson Story’s
General
Store, and I made an insulting remark to Republican F.F. Blows were the
only
thing that followed after that. Okay you should have the basics
of
my life by now. I’ve got to go. I’m wearing an expensive
necklace and grave robbers are chasing me.

What I think About Things
Our first question is, why should we study Bozeman History? I
think people are a lot more social when they have more knowledge about
things. People
probably get better grades knowing more about history. They also would
have
a lot more to talk about. That is why I think Bozeman history is
important.
Bozeman history is also important. Because Lewis and Clark (and Seaman)
came through what is now “Bozeman”. There where a lot of famous people
who
lived in Bozeman. In my opinion Bozeman history is pretty interesting.
That’s
some more reasons.
In my last few years of elementary school I have also done more reports
on Bozeman history. Last year I played Meriwether Lewis’s dog Seaman.
Lewis and Clark were some of the most interesting people that I’ve ever
heard of.
One thing I’ve never found is if there has ever been any blacks in
Bozeman. Mainly in the 1940’s or 1950’s. I feel so guilty being a white
person. I’ve also wondered if there has been any major wars in Bozeman.
It still seems kind of weird having a mansion in the part of a not very
important town like Bozeman.
