Business Reports

The Country Bookshelf

By Michael Nolt & Nate Lamberty

The Country Bookshelf business was started thirty years ago by Mary Jane Disanti.  Polly Renne owned White Chapel Books before it became Country Bookshelf.  White Chapel Books was located by LaParilla and Zydeco Café.  During the Vietnam War, Country Bookshelf was in service.  Country Bookshelf is now located on Main Street.

Right now the Country Bookshelf is an open store to everybody.  Recently the Country Bookshelf’s biggest seller is books.  Their worst seller is sports books and journals.  It’s amazing that they sell a two-hundred-dollar atlas.  Nine working employees make the Country Bookshelf a great store.

Mary Jane chose the location on Main Street because it’s very accessible.  She also chose the name Country Bookshelf.  Bozeman’s growth has affected their business in a good way.  Traffic and parking downtown makes customers walk a little sometimes.  Obviously, the Country Bookshelf is a great book store.

Bozeman To Other Cities
Bozeman/ Kansas City
by Nate

Here are the best things about Bozeman. In Bozeman the air is clean. Our water is also clean. There are not many thieves or crimes. Usually there’s not much traffic. Those are some of the reasons I like Bozeman.
These are some of the reasons I like Kansas City. Kansas City has really good restaurants. I have some friends that live there. I like their professional football team. Also I like their professional baseball team too. That’s what I like about Kansas City.
My preference is Bozeman. The reason I chose Bozeman is because our air is a little cleaner. The water here is a little fresher. Crimes are not as big or a problem. Traffic is not a problem compared to Kansas City. As you can see I really enjoy the city of Bozeman.

Historical Fiction
MSU
By Nate

“A Land Grant school founded through the Morrill Act,” read A.M. Ryon, the State Agricultural College of Montana’s first President.  It was February 16, 1893, the day before the school that would be known as Montana State University opened.  A.M. Ryon was making sure everything was in place in the small rented-out building on Main Street, and so were the seven teachers he hired.  In 1894, the second year of MSU’s existence, James Reid became president of the still brand-new Land Grant school. “I vow to stop all student dances and gambling,” James Reid exclaimed.  Also in 1894, James Reid welcomed the school’s first female students, and had a total of 13 teachers because the school was growing.  The school was so crowded, if a student or even a teacher did not have anything to do for a period, they had to leave the building.
One day in 1896, the cornerstone of College Hall, now Montana Hall, was laid.  The first graduating class was in 1897, and Reno H. Sales was in it.  Reno H. Sales became a world-famous geologist, and the Bobcats football stadium is named after him.
In 1915, the name changed to Montana State College.  Once again in 1965, the name changed to Montana State University, and it’s been MSU ever since.

What I think About Things
Here are some of the reasons I am me because I live in Bozeman. I like sports because my dad works at Montana State University. At Montana State University there are a lot of athletic influences and good athletes that I have gotten to meet. Also I am ball boy for the men’s Bobcat basketball and I was water boy for the Bobcat football games. Another reason I love sports is because the many opportunities I have to have to play sports. Such as baseball in the summer. I’ve made 9-10 year old all stars 2 years in a row. In the fall I play Lions Club Football and in the winter I ski and play Lions Club basketball
