Business Report
The Root

By Sophie R. Brush & Sheikha Al-Khulaifi

To start off, I’ll tell you what Sheikha and I did at The Root.  First I had to sweep the floors in the shoe room.  Nicole had Sheikha clean shelves.  Then Sheikha and I put stickers on bags.  We had a race to see who was the fastest at putting stickers on bags.  Sheikha won the race.

The Root has an interesting history that I would like to tell you.  The Root started in 1995.  That was a year after I was born!  Camille was the person who started the business.  The Root was always in downtown Bozeman.  They think downtown Bozeman is busy, so they can get enough customers.  The stores name has never changed.  Camille was always the owner.  They used to sell men’s clothes, but now they sell women’s clothes only.

First I should tell you what The Root sells.  They sell clothes, hats, boots, shoes, jewelry, and they even sell fake eyelashes.  The shoes and boots are really pretty.  The hats are cowgirl hats, and the jewelry is gorgeous.  The Root sells more pants than anything else and sells the least of dresses.  The most expensive thing in the store is a pair of shoes for $130.00.  The oldest thing in the store is fake eyelashes.  Camille has five employees, and they have one other in Hawaii!  Well, that’s all I have on the description.

Now I’ll tell you all the opinions about this store.  Camille chose to locate The Root in downtown Bozeman because there are a lot of people who shop downtown.  Shoplifters are big challenges for The Root.  The mall provides a lot of competition for them because there are a lot of shoe, clothing, and jewelry stores at the mall.  One of the things that The Root needs is more parking spaces.  The growth of Bozeman has affected their store.
