Tour of PBS-KUSM Studio – Visual Communications Building (VCB) - call 406-994-3437 to schedule

11 am – 1 pm: Check-in – Hospitality Desk, Upper Lobby, Visual Communications Building (VCB)

  • WELCOME! Pick up your badge, parking pass, program and other materials for the weekend
  • The VCB is located at the NE corner of 11th & Grant - Temporary parking is available across the street

1 pm: Alumni/Advisory Council Roundtable Panel – 233 VCB (Studio B)

  • Moderator - Bob Arnold
  • Scheduled panelists: Maureen Farley '85, Kelly Gorham '95, Ed Komen, Matt Radcliff MFA '06, John Reddy '78 and Brian Van't Hul '88

  • A compilation of archival clips and interviews from the past 50 years, covering:
    1. Early history (pre-1961) with Jack Stonnell
      Television and the early 1970s with Jack Hyyppa
      Film department up to the early 1980s with Jack Stonnell
      Photography with John Hooton and Rudi Dietrich
      Shift to Film, inclusion of Theater 1985 until present with Paul Monaco

Saturday, September 12th

10 am – 12 noon: FINDING YOUR AUDIENCE:  An Introduction to Marketing Your Photographs
Mary Virginia Swanson
– Black Box Theater
Ms. Swanson is a marketing consultant/educator. Her seminar is geared to both photographers who are just beginning to promote their work, as well as those who are considering broadening their existing marketing to include new audiences for their photographs.

10 am – 12 noon: Alumni Photo Show - Session 1, 211 VCB (Photo Studio)
Attention alumni who are interested in submitting work: This exhibition will be in the form of digital slides. Please send 5 Jpeg files resized to 2000 pixels wide and compressed at level 10 to ianvancoller@gmail.com. Please also include your name and year of graduation in the image file names.

10 am – 4 pm: Screenings: Selected Student Films 1961-2008, 182 VCB

11 am – 12 noon: PROPS: It's Not Just Stuff From Home...
Maureen Farley '85, Kim Larsen-Santini '85
– 148 VCB
Ms. Farley and Ms. Larsen-Santini both have extensive experience as "Property Master" and "Assistant Property Master," respectively. Both worked on the The Green Mile (1999) and Yes Man (2008).

11 am: MSU Alumni Association Tailgate Party – Large white tent in front of Bobcat Stadium
Grilled Bratwurst and Bozone Ale will be served. No cost to Association members, small donation requested of non-members.

3 pm – 4 pm: Building a Production Company...Grant Writing, Budgeting & Other Necessities
Matthew Radcliff MFA '06
– 148 VCB
Matthew is a Washington, DC-based producer of science documentaries and educational websites.

7:00 pm – 10 pm: Cocktail Party, Drinks and heavy hors d’oeuvres will be served, 1203 N. Rouse ("The Treehouse").

8:00 pm: Performance of Greater Tuna, Black Box Theater, Admission $8-$10 (purchase tickets at Black Box Theater Box Office) Performances also on Thursday 9/10 and Friday 9/11 evenings
