Orientation Information & Dates for Transfer Students
We are very excited for you to join us for the continuation of your college career! Orientation is your introduction to academic and non-academic life at Montana State University. Transfer students will have two options for completing an Orientation. The first option is for you to complete an individual orientation. The second option will be to attend a formal transfer orientation just prior to classes starting.
Students accepted for admission to MSU will receive Orientation materials, which will outline the details for both options, at the following times:
- Students admitted for Fall Semester-after March 1st
- Students admitted for Spring Semester-after November 1st
- Students admitted for Summer Session-after March 1st

Fall Semester Registration Information (Go to Spring Schedule)
Transfer students can register for courses by choosing one of the following options:
Option 1:
The first way to complete the orientation process is by visiting campus and completing the Transfer Student Checklist (included in the Orientation information we mailed you) on your own. This option requires you to spend one weekday on campus between late April and mid August. You cannot complete this option over the phone. You MUST come to campus. To register for this option, please mark "Option 1" on the registration card you were sent in the mail or online through the admissions checklist. Then, complete each step on the checklist in the order listed. In order for your orientation to be considered complete, you are responsible for each item on the checklist.
Option 2:
The second way to complete the orientation process is to attend the Transfer Student Orientation Program on Wednesday, August 21. To register for this option, please mark "Option 2" on the registration card or online through the admissions checklist.
