Human resources are the life blood of working with children - especially those who need a boost! Students who could assist for 30 minutes a day in a reading support group or math support group would be an incredible resource to us. Any possibilities in that type of venue? Thanks for your efforts and consideration.
Randy

Hi, my name is Ann Cannata. I work at CJ and was wondering if it needs
to be an event or if there are any volunteers who can come consistently
to work with students on comprehension and vocabulary? I was hoping for
Mon-Wed and Fri 9:00-9:40, but could be flexible.
Thanks,
Ann Cannata

There are MANY OPPORTUNITIES for your
involvement. Following is just a few:

1. Come play games with our students during recess times or the after
school program. We are particularly interested in MSU students teaching
a game to students and helping them learn how to play new games. Our
recess times are approximately 10:00 - 10:30, 11:45 - 12:45 and 2:00 -
2:30 daily.

2. Share a talent, teach a skill, etc during our after school
program. We are looking for enrichment opportunities for our students.
Help them learn how to play chess, paint, learn a foreign language,
etc. The children also enjoy being read to or reading to someone.

3. Help with our Literacy Fairs. We host three Literacy Fairs during
the school year. Each fair has a theme. Our fair dates for this year
are: 10/29, 2/25, and 4/22. We need help set up and taking down
tables, displays, etc. and welcome your involvement once again leading
and playing games, helping with an art activity, etc. Each fair runs
from approximately 5:45 - 7:30 pm.

4. We are looking for MSU students to join Whittier students and staff
for the Safe Routes to School Program. We are encouraging children to
walk or bike to school. Each month we hold a special day with a theme.
For example during December we sing carols on the way to school, in Feb.
we hand out Valentines to our neighbors, etc.

I hope you can take advantage of this opportunity to spend time with
children.

Jerry C. Bauer
Whittier Principal

We can use students after the new year in March for our Health Fair. We have only a tentative date but if students are still available then we could sure use their help? It's an all day event so students could sign up for when they are available, it is usually the Friday after Spring Break. Let me know if this will still be an option.
Thanks,

Emily Dickinson is in 10-12 volunteers for our science fair on November 5th. I'll have to confirm the times--but sometime between 5:30 and 7:30. We would need them to circulate among the science projects and comment on the exhibits. They'll be provided forms and a clipboard. It would entail making comments like: Where did you get your idea?" "How did you find the materials you needed?" and comment positively like "The color illustration really caught my eye." or "What do you think surprised you most?" etc.

Thank you for any help you can send our direction.

Bozeman Public schools needs to have all students/volunteers complete this form when they go to a school to volunteer. Here is a copy, so you can have it filled out prior to going to the school.
