RESOLUTION OF THE SENATE

OF

THE ASSOCIATED STUDENTS OF MONTANA STATE UNIVERSITY

Adopted 17 October 2019

Whereas, The Honors College has offered the Honors Academy, Hike and Read, and Ski and Read in previous years, and student evaluations of course content and structure have been overwhelmingly positive; and,

Whereas, The proposed maximum program fee per student enrolled in the Honors Academy is $2,000, and the proposed course fees for Hike and Read and Ski and Read are $175 and $375, respectively; and,

Whereas, The proposed maximum fee per student for the Honors Academy allows for flexibility with regards to year-to-year variation in course offerings, and the proposed course fees for Hike and Read and Ski and Read allow for flexibility in anticipated enrollment and cost per student; and,

Whereas, The proposed fee associated with each offered course will be assessed solely to course attendees; and,

Whereas, The Honors College consistently strives to secure donor support for those students with financial need; and,

Whereas, The rigor and content of the considered courses merits credit; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, That the Associated Students of Montana State University support the approval of the proposed off-cycle fees in calendar year 2020 for the following Honors College courses: Honors Academy, Hike and Read, and Ski and Read; and,

Resolved, That a copy of this resolution be sent to Dr. Ilse-Mari Lee, Dean of the Honors College; Terry Leist, Vice President of Administration and Finance; Marianne Brough, Director of the Office of Student Engagement, Taylor Blossom, ASMSU President; and Sophia Elias, ASMSU Vice President.
