RESOLUTION OF THE SENATE

OF

THE ASSOCIATED STUDENTS OF MONTANA STATE UNIVERSITY

Adopted 30 January 2020

Whereas, 3,082 students have attended events facilitated and organized by the LI since Fall 2017 (see Appendix A); and

Whereas, Whereas, 16,639 MSU students and community members have attended events hosted and organized by the Leadership Institute since Fall 2017 (see Appendix A); and

Whereas, The LI efficiently organizes programming in accordance with metrics 1.3.1, 1.3.4, 3.2.1, 3.2.3, 3.3.2, and 3.3.4 of the MSU Strategic Plan; and

Whereas, The LI collaborates with organizations and offices across the University, including but not limited to the Office of the President, the Office of the Provost, and ASMSU in order to organize said programming; and

Whereas, The current LI office is no longer conducive to the levels of collaboration and teamwork required for the growth of the organization; and

Whereas, Having more space will allow the LI to increase the quantity and quality of leadership programming on campus, thereby expanding the opportunities for MSU students’ leadership development; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, The ASMSU Senate supports the relocation of the MSU Leadership Institute to a new and improved space more conducive to collaboration and teamwork; and

Resolved, That a copy of this resolution be delivered to Carmen McSpadden, Director of the MSU Leadership Institute; Dani Daley, Senior Associate of the MSU Leadership Institute; John How, Director of Campus Planning, Design & Construction; Butch Damberger, Building Manager of the Strand Union Building; Marianne Brough, Director of the Office of Student Engagement; Taylor Blossom, ASMSU President; and Sophia Elias, ASMSU Vice President.
