My name is John Cowles, I’m a Junior studying Industrial Engineering and Economics. I’m honored to be ASMSU’s Business Manager this year. I’m committed to ensuring ASMSU is professional, accountable, transparent, and truly a benefit to our community. As the Business Manager, I help oversee the day-to-day financial operations of our various programs and the yearly budgeting process. ASMSU puts nearly $1.5 million of student fees to good use on this campus, and I’m here to make sure it’s done in the most efficient and effective manner.
At MSU, I’ve served as a Senator for the College of Engineering for 1.5 terms, and was a member of the Parking and Transportation Advisory Committee, MSU Budget Council, and Club Sports Facility Council, Finance Board, Constitutional Audit Committee, and Exponent Board. I enjoy working with fellow students and the Administration to make this campus a better place for everyone through responsible fiscal management and community outreach.
Originally from the Spokane, WA area, I moved to Bozeman to attend to MSU in 2013 from the University of Vermont. At UVM, I worked for the student government and held various leadership positions as a member of the Sigma Phi fraternity (where I am now an alumni). Bozeman and MSU are truly incredible communities to call home, and I couldn’t be happier living here. In my spare time, I can usually be found on the ski hill or on the trails outside of Bozeman.
