Evaluation of the Fatty Acid Content of a Camelina sativa Population

Project Description:

Camelina seed was mutated using UV or chemical mutation. The seed was propagated.  Seed from individual plants was collected and screened for fatty acid profile.  Variants with altered fatty acid profile (increased oleic acid (omega9), increased linolenic acid (omega-3) (desirable) (Fig. 4) or decreased gondoic acid (undesirable) (fig. 5) were isolated and will be incorporated into the camelina breeding program at NWARC.
