Genetic Modification of Camelina sativa for Production of Unique Fatty Acids

Project Description:

Dr. Lu has developed an efficient protocol for transformation of Camelina sativa.  He is currently developing lines of camelina that express novel fatty acids such as hydroxy fatty acid a component of castor oil (fig. 22). Such novel fatty acids can be used in biolubricants and as precursors to bioproduct manufacture.
