Researchers Involved:

Dr. Jerry Bergman
Dr. Chuck Flynn

Project Description:

Dr. Bergman and Dr. Flynn are developing Safflower lines with unique oil and vitamin composition for production in Eastern Montana and Western ND (Montola Grower Cooperative). They developed several high oleic lines of safflower in the 1980’s which are marketed under the MontolaTM.They are currently working to develop a line with high vitamin E (tocopherol) content, which will enhance the health benefit of the oil and increase the stability of the oil for biofuel and biolubricant applications.
