Compliance Mission
Montana State University is committed and obligated to the principle of institutional control by operating the athletics program in a manner that is consistent with the letter and the spirit of NCAA, Big Sky Conference, and Montana State University rules and regulations. Montana State University promotes institutional control through involvement and monitoring of critical and sensitive areas of compliance by individuals outside the Athletic Department.
Each individual associated with Montana State University's intercollegiate athletic program is obligated to act within his/her realm of responsibility to promote full compliance with the rules of applicable governing bodies and to report any violation of NCAA, Big Sky Conference, and or Montana State University rules of which he/she becomes aware.
It is the policy of Montana State University that no rules violation is so minor that it need not be reported. Montana State University's commitment to rules compliance encourages communication, rules education, and establishing consistent and accountable monitoring practices.
Compliance and Operating Objectives
- To operate a program that reflects positively on the University and Intercollegiate athletics by adhering to NCAA, Big Sky Conference and University and State guidelines;
- To assist in providing the best possible experience for our student-athletes through academic support, education and monitoring;
- To assist all administrators and coaches in achieving successful athletic programs by providing support, research and education.
Standard of Institutional Control
MSU athletics is committed to a compliance program that reaches outside of the athletics department and ensures that the compliance is an institutional commitment and responsibility.
