The Brick Breeden Fieldhouse Is Turning 50!
The Brick Breeden Fieldhouse is nearing its 50th birthday, and MSU is gathering historical information, memorabilia, and
stories from people involved in its construction and opening days.
When built in 1957, the building was the largest free-standing dome in the world. Critics at the time thought the
$1.5 million buliding was too big and would never be fully utilized.
Today, the building is one of the most-used facilites on campus and underwent a $12 million remodel and update in 1998.
MSU is planning a celebration marking its 50th birthday in 2007.
Anyone with photos, memorabilia, or stories to share are asked to contact Melanie Stocks, MSU Sports Facilities, at
994-7117, or by e-mail at 50th@montana.edu.
