Sports Facilities – Event Operations Staff

Job Description: The Sports Facilities department is responsible for the management of the sports buildings at MSU- Bozeman. These facilities are multi-purpose and managed to meet the campus and community needs and include; the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse, Bobcat Stadium, Hosaeus Recreational Sports and Fitness Complex, Shroyer and Romney Gyms and outdoor fields. Sports Facilities is currently recruiting a large pooled staff to work within our department for the upcoming school year. Operations staff duties include, but are not limited to set-up and teardown of events, staffing at sporting and special events, custodial before and after events and building monitoring. The position requires physical activities (including lifting, pushing and pulling), and evening and weekend hours.

Hours available: Up to 20 hrs / week
Date positions available: August 2007

Graduate Student Internship

Job Description: The Department of Sports Facilities is responsible for the management of all sport facilities located at Montana State University – Bozeman. The facilities are multi-purpose and managed to meet the campus and community needs and include; The Brick Breeden Fieldhouse, Bobcat Football Stadium, Hoseus Recreational Sports and Fitness Complex, Shroyer and Romney Gyms and outdoor fields. The Student Intern will report directly to the Event and Operations Manager for Sports Facilities.

The purpose of this position is to provide a graduate level individual a working and learning environment that encompasses all facets of sport and public assembly facility management. This position is the capstone experience for a graduate degree in Sports Administration. At the conclusion of this position written critiques from the student intern and Event and Operations Manager in regard to the position will be presented at an exit interview.

The student intern duties include, but are not limited to:
  1. Job shadowing the Event and Operations Manager in regard to building operations, event management, personnel, scheduling and project development. Tasks and assignments will be assigned on a daily basis with responsibility increasing during the duration of the internship.
  2. Job shadowing the Director or Sports Facilities in regard to overall facility management with an emphasis placed on booking, scheduling, policies and procedures.
  3. Assisting the Coordinator of Guest Services in regard to customer service, patron relations and front of house staff.
  4. Assisting the Technical Director in regard to technical operations, concert set-up and technical crew development.
  5. Coordination with Athletic game personnel in the areas of parking, event set-up and tear-down, event management and daily operations.
  6. Overseeing student employee crews during regular operations and building events.
The student intern must demonstrate the following abilities:
  1. Communicate effectively with employees and the building patrons, establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the public.
  2. Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
  3. Must be willing to work in an environment that will involve time constraints, and time deadlines.
  4. Able to coordinate and complete multiple tasks at once.
  5. Represent the Sports Facilities Department and its programs in a professional and courteous manner.
Full time: Up to 40 hrs / week
Start Date: July 7th, 2008
End Date: December 12th, 2008
Wage rate: $8.00 / Hour eligible for overtime
