Emily grew up in southern California and southeastern Montana. After graduating from Carroll College (MT) and teaching English in South Korea, Emily received her MA in Modern American History at James Madison University (VA). Emily returned to the West and became the archivist at the Park City Museum (UT), which was undergoing a substantial renovation. There, she helped research and write all-new exhibits, wrote and edited a weekly history newspaper column, and managed the Hal Compton Research Library.

In 2012, Emily and her husband moved to Sydney, Australia, where Emily worked for the Chief Scientist and Engineer of New South Wales during an investigation into the impacts of coalbed methane development.

Upon their return to the U.S., Emily created Beeson Copywriting, which provides Montana businesses with writing expertise to articulate what sets their products, services, and specialties apart. Today, Emily helps students who visit the BBCC do something similar: realize objectives by effectively communicating with professors and peers.
