The MSU College of Business Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) Club will be participating in the Cardboard Box City fundraiser on Friday, October 14, 2011.

Family Promise of Gallatin Valley, a non-profit organization located in Bozeman, is hosting the fifth annual Cardboard Box City fundraiser at Bogert Park. As part of SIFE’s ongoing involvement with Family Promise, team members are collecting donations to build, decorate and sleep in a cardboard box home in order to raise awareness about homelessness.

“We are thrilled to have a new opportunity to be involved with such an outstanding organization like Family Promise. MSU SIFE looks forward to helping out anyway we can and we hope to continue our involvement with Family Promise of Gallatin Valley,” said Elliot Rueb, SIFE Club president.

Cardboard Box City 2011 is meant to raise awareness about homelessness and to raise funds so Family Promise can continue providing families with not only short term housing and meals, but individualized plans to help families take the necessary steps toward lasting independence.

SIFE has helped Family Promise of Gallatin Valley by applying for and receiving a $1,200 grant and using that to purchase and install new carpet for a house that Family Promise uses as an emergency shelter for homeless families. SIFE members have also volunteered at Family Promise shelters.
