New Entrepreneur-in-Residence Program at the College of Business

February 28th, 2011

The COB is formally launching an Entrepreneur-in-Residence program this semester, with support coming from the newly named Jake Jabs Center for Entrepreneurship for the New West. The C0B plans to offer one entrepreneur-in-residence per semester for an intensive week of interactions with CoB students.

Gary Gannon, a self-described serial entrepreneur with significant experience in the technology/software arena, will serve as the college’s first entrepreneur-in-residence from February 28 through March 4. Gannon will work with students — helping them better learn the art and science of envisioning, building and growing their own company – and faculty.

Gannon is the principal and founding member of Visual Life Web, LLC, a technology company dedicated to transforming the relationship between science and environmental decision-making. He has life-long experience envisioning, forming, managing, and growing U.S. and international companies and organizations in diverse fields. He has a solid track record and leadership experience in anticipating global trends, and has built numerous businesses that both leveraged and added value to these emerging trends, including UBMatrix, a worldwide leader in business reporting software based on the digital XML language named XBRL. The company was recently acquired by Edgar Online Inc., a publicly traded corporation.

Gannon is also heavily involved in many other business and philanthropic activities. He is an advisor for the Western Sustainability Exchange; an advisory board member for Gaia-Metrics, Inc.; on the City of Bozeman Mayor’s Community Climate Change Taskforce Workgroup; and serves as an international advisory board member for the United National Global Compact Cities Programme.
