Johnstone-Mullan Residence Halls

Handicapped access at all main doors

To the northwest is the Lewis and Clark complex. Built in 1955, this complex was MSU's first permanent quarters for male students and was named in honor of Meriwether Lewis and William Clark, leaders of the historic 1804-1806 expedition.

East to west, the complex consists of:

Pryor Wing (building 43)
this dormitory building was named for a member of the Lewis and Clark expedition, Nathaniel Pryor.

Colter Wing (building 11)
another dormitory named after a member of the Lewis and Clark expedition, John Colter

Mullan Wing (building 38)
these dormitories were named for Captain John Mullan, a member of the expedition that charted a transcontinental railroad route across the US.

Culbertson Wing (building 13)
now converted to academic and administrative office space, this wing was named for Alexander Culbertson, who came to Montana as a agent for the American Fur Company and was responsible for the building of Fort Benton. This wing also houses the campus Post Office.

The Johnstone Center, an office complex housed in Pryor and Coulter, was named for William A. Johnstone, former VP of Administration.

The Jonhstone Complex is building 29 on our campus map.
