Career Services coordinates all on-campus recruiting for full-time and internship opportunities. We use a web-based interview scheduling system.
To get started, you must first request an on-campus interview date. The recruiting staff will then confirm your date via email and provide further instructions. Refer to the other resources listed here for additional program and recruiting information.
You will manage your entire on-campus recruiting efforts online - from job description entry through candidate preselection and notification. Students have ready access to your online recruiting information twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. When you have ongoing or projected staffing needs for full-time and/or internship positions, take advantage of MyCatCareers to strategically recruit MSU students for your organization.
Students at MSU who
wish to participate must register before they
can interview. |
Scheduling a Recruiting Event
- Plan early to schedule a recruitment date. There are a limited number of interview rooms available.
- There are two types of schedule:
- Preselect – Students have at least 2 weeks to submit resumes. Employers then have 2 days to prescreen the submitted resumes to select which students they want to interview. The selected students then sign up on the schedule. The advantage to a preselect schedule is the ability to preview the candidates and select only the ones most qualified. The disadvantage is the candidate pool may be small and the schedule light.
- Open – Students who meet the employer’s basic requirements (major, graduation date, etc.) have a minimum of 2 weeks to sign up directly on a schedule. The advantage to an open schedule is the potential for more candidates to interview. The disadvantage is the commitment to interview candidates that may not be as qualified as the employer might prefer.
- If a preselect-type schedule is desired, a minimum of 4 weeks' notice is necessary to allow time for the announcement of your visit, collection of student materials, and interview sign-ups.

you need extra rooms for information sessions or second interviews, please
call to make special arrangements. |
Information Sessions

you in making these arrangements. Call to schedule a
date, time, refreshments, and audio/visual needs. A 5% administrative fee will apply to all catering & audio/visual charges. |
Information Tables
If the opportunity for a recruiting visit arises on very short notice, a good way to get your message out to students about your company and your hiring needs is to reserve an information table. Tables are available in key locations in the Strand Union Building. You may staff your table strategically from mid-morning through the early afternoon for maximum traffic. Please call Career Services to check on table availability and to make arrangements. |
