for students:

I’m looking for an internship, where should I start?

Many employers post local and national internship opportunities on Start there! For other ideas and strategies to help with your internship search, set up an appointment with a Career Coach by calling 406.994.4353, emailing, or stopping by SUB 177.

Are graduate students eligible for the exc.e.ed grant?

Yes, there is funding set aside for graduate students seeking financial assistance, however the funds allocated for graduate students are less than for undergraduates.

Will exc.e.ed grant applications be accepted after the deadlines?

Possibly. Applications received by the deadline will be given priority. Late applications may be reviewed depending on funding availability.

Does my internship need to take place during the academic year to qualify for an exc.e.ed grant?

It does not, in fact, many excellent internship opportunities occur over the summer. Summer internships provide the chance to travel, be involved in an immersive internship, and really make the most of some unique opportunities. You do need to be a registered MSU-Bozeman student, however.

How much are exc.e.ed scholars typically awarded?

Award allocations vary greatly depending on the opportunity and student.

My internship is paid, but I need assistance to get there. Does this qualify for an exc.e.ed grant?

Yes. There are many opportunities beyond wage reimbursement that can qualify for assistance, including but not limited to travel or housing associated with an internship or opportunity, conference registration fees, etc.
