Self-Assessment
Generally
appropriate during the Freshman
Year. This step involves gathering information about oneself to
assist in making a decision about a career. A list of potential and suitable
careers is generated. From the list, a shorter set, usually 3 to 5, of
those careers most attractive/interesting is formed. Key words
during the self assessment phase are:
- Interests/Motivations
- Values/Satisfactions
- Skills/Abilities
- Personality
- Accomplishments
- Dreams
- Lifestyle
Tools for Self-Assessment
Visit with one of our experienced Career Counselors to identify your
personal direction and goals as well as your career direction and goals. With
the assistance of a Career Counselor determine which of the below assessments
would benefit you.
- Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)
- Strong Interest Inventory
