Set-Up:

Once you are checked-in you may begin setting up your booth space. Please set-up and keep coverage at your booth area for the two day duration of Catapalooza. You are responsible to bring a table and chairs UNLESS you are a Catapalooza sponsor.

IMPORTANT: If you plan on setting up tents, canopies, umbrellas, or display items, please note that you WILL NOT be able to stake anything into the lawn. We ask that you bring cinder blocks, milk jugs filled with water, or sandbags to secure your area. If you bring a tent or canopy it may not be bigger than your both space (11’x10’). The picture below shows what happens to a tent when it is not secured with cinder blocks/sandbags.

Evenings:

We provide night-time security if you wish to leave your display at MSU overnight, however, please know, we are not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items, or tents. The weather is unpredictable so please make sure that your tent is lowered/collapsed and secure on Thursday evening so that it does not blow away.

Clean up:

At 3pm on Friday, August 25th please clean up all trash, left over booth items, and the blue painters tape that marked your booth. Please note that volunteers will not be available to help you carry your items to the loading area. You might consider bringing extra help and/or a dolly to help move your display and promotional products. You will be able to bring your items to the loading area (where you checked-in) and then drive your vehicle to pick-up.

Serving Food:

  • If you did not indicate your intentions to serve food or beverages when you registered, you will NOT be permitted to do so at this two day event– no exceptions-this includes candy.

Conducting Business:

We request and will enforce that vendors DO NOT sell goods or services (no exchange of money) at Catapalooza. Instead, be prepared to distribute coupons, hand-outs, freebees, and/or company contact information to promote your company or organization. Students love fun promotional items! Will you be offering to add interested parties to your mailing list? Please have sign-in sheets prepared and printed in advance. Also, please bring extra pens and pencils, business cards, and information pamphlets.

Other Considerations:

Catapalooza is an outdoor event that runs from 10am-3pm on Thursday and Friday. Please plan on being outside for two days and arrive prepared for all weather! Plan on bringing water, sunblock, a shade source (such as an umbrella or canopy) paperweights, and a jacket or rain gear.

Acknowledgment of Risk Form:

Will you be allowing any members of the public to participate in an activity at your booth (examples: fencing, climbing wall, pull up bar, weight lifting)? Please print copies of the Acknowledgement of Risk form (attached to this email) and have it at your booth for the public to sign when they participate in the activity. Plan to keep the signed forms for the duration of Catapalooza. You are welcome to turn in the signed copies to the Info Tent (located on the north side of the Strand Union Building) when Catapalooza ends. If only members of your organization are participating in the activity you do not need to complete this form. If members of the public are participating in a physical activity at your booth and you do not have signed Acknowledgment of Risk forms, you will be asked to stop the activity for the duration of Catapalooza

Shirts:

Starting this year our office, the MSU Office of Student Engagement, will be selling Catapalooza shirts. They will be available on August 25th and 26th at the Info Table which will be located on the north side of the Strand Union Building for $12 (cash/credit/check/cat card). The first 100 shirts sold will also receive a free Catapalooza sticker!
