Description KUSM-TV is a public broadcasting station owned and operated by Montana State University. Together with KUFM-TV, located at the University of Montana in Missoula, KUSM operates as MontanaPBS - a state-wide public television service. KUSM also services MSU-Bozeman and the Media & Theatre Arts academic department by providing a real-world complete television environment for laboratory and internship coursework, and also provides complete television production services to on-campus departments, other public agencies, and to the private sector.

Under supervision of the Director of Development, the person in this position provides administrative support for the fundraising efforts of MontanaPBS, interfaces with the public in person, on the phone and via email and performs administrative duties in order to ensure continuity for the KUSM-TV staff as well as students. This person is expected to oversee clerical operations, telephone coverage, front office operations, and customer/viewer/member services. This will include training and supervising student staff.

The Program Assistant will be the first contact person for MontanaPBS, and will provide quality customer service utilizing proprietary databases for fundraising and program scheduling. The Program Assistant will work closely with the development staff and a relational database to track contributions; ensure the timely delivery of mailings; answer donor and viewer questions and ensure a pleasant experience for the caller. The Program assistant will facilitate the creation of the MontanaPBS community calendar; on-air birthday announcements; and will take program orders. This person will also perform daily point-of-sale operations, receipt balancing, check processing and bookkeeping. The Program Assistant will create and edit correspondence, oversee schedules and calendars, organize and maintain paper and electronic files, maintain a pleasant office environment, assist with mailings, and other informational materials, and provide specialized information to internal and external customers.

 
Required
Qualifications
1.    General office experience which includes reception, word processing, record keeping, and customer service duties or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. Experience working directly with the public in a service oriented position preferred.
 
2. Demonstrated experience formatting, typing, and proofing, grammar, punctuation, and spelling of business correspondence, reports, and general office forms.
 
3. Demonstrated competence using personal computers for word processing, spreadsheet, electronic calendars, database, point-of-sale and, email software.
 
4. Demonstrated competence performing detailed data entry and record keeping; experience handling confidential information.
 
5. Demonstrated competence coordinating and scheduling meeting arrangements.
 
Preferred
Qualifications
1.    Experience in a non-profit environment.
 
2. Experience with a relational database.
 
3. Knowledge of university organizational structure, regulations, and procedures.
