Departmental Information |
Montana State University is a land grant university with total enrollment of 12,300 students including about 1,500 graduate students. Bozeman and it's surrounding community of about 70,000 people is situated in the Gallatin Valley, 90 miles north of Yellowstone National Park. Residents enjoy a high quality of life, excellent public schools, and outstanding recreational and cultural opportunities. The Department of Agricultural Economics and Economics (DAEE) is jointly administered by the College of Agriculture and the College of Letters and Science. The Department currently has 20 faculty members, about half of whom work in the fields of agricultural and natural resource economics. The Department ascribes to the highest academic standards and is dedicated to education that develops human capital. Faculty members are highly productive scholars, who conduct research in Agricultural Economics and Economics, with an applied microeconomic emphasis and a focus on high quality publications in leading refereed journals. DAEE faculty obtain substantial extramural grant funding. The Department provides high quality teaching and outreach programs. Undergraduate degrees are offered in Economics and in Agricultural Business, with undergraduate majors numbering about 100. DAEE courses also play large service roles for other programs in the University. The Department offers a very rigorous, highly respected Master's degree in Applied Economics, graduating an average of six students per year. | ||||||||||

Duties and Responsibilities |
This tenure-track position will be responsible for providing high-quality teaching in courses at the undergraduate and possibly master's levels, with emphasis on teaching environmental and natural resource economics. Research is expected to result in publications in leading disciplinary refereed journals. Because this position is partially funded by the Montana Agricultural Experiment Station, a component of the research portfolio associated with this position is expected to have relevance to Montana environmental and natural resource issues. The successful applicant is expected to participate in the department's tradition of outreach to state, national, and global stakeholders. | ||||||||||
