Salary Term, rank and salary of the following positions will be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and available University resources.

Two (2) full time, tenure track Assistant/Associate Professor of Architecture positions AND up to four (4) one year renewable term appointments as Assistant/Associate Professor of Architecture.The appointments will permit the successful candidates to join a highly regarded faculty within the rapidly developing intermountain west of the greater Yellowstone ecosystem. The department has a distinguished reputation and is characterized by its continuing leadership in visualization and stewardship.

Information
Montana State University School of Architecture offers a fully accredited 5-1/2 year professional Master of Architecture degree. The primary focus of the School is the design studio for which the faculty and students are nationally recognized for their creative activities, publications, and competitions awards.

The School has recently been authorized by the University to expand its program by offering a year round (fall, spring and summer) curriculum thus the need for additional faculty. Full time faculty appointments, whether tenure track or adjunct, will generally teach two of the three curriculum periods although the opportunity to teach year round does exist.

Founded in 1893 in the scenic Gallatin Valley just north of Yellowstone National Park, Montana State is now a four-campus university with a combined enrollment of more than 19,000 students, a faculty and staff of 3,525 FTE, and a general operating budget of approximately $150 million. Recently named an all-American City, Bozeman and nearby communities enjoy excellent schools, a very low crime rate, a vibrant cultural and arts scene, and one of the most outstanding year-round outdoor recreational areas in the nation. Bozeman is located just 90 miles from Yellowstone National Park and has two world-class ski areas less than an hour away.

 
Duties and
Responsibilities
Tenure Track Faculty Duties and Responsibilities: Faculty appointments require thesis advising, student advising and on-going participation in service work in addition to teaching responsibilities. Full-time, tenure track positions require research/creative activity. Tenure track faculty are expected to have, in addition to design studio, a secondary teaching responsibility within the architecture curriculum such as building systems, energy systems, graphics, history and theory, professional practice, structures, or sustainability.

One Year Renewable Term Appointments Duties and Responsibilities: Require thesis advising, student advising and on-going participation in service work in addition to teaching responsibilities. Term appointees are expected to have, in addition to design, a secondary teaching responsibility within the architecture curriculum such as building systems, energy systems, graphics, history and theory, professional practice, structures, or sustainability

 
Required
Qualifications

2. A professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch, M.Arch).
 
3. Demonstrated excellence in architectural design or in an area of specialty listed above.
 
4. A post professional degree in architecture (M.Arch, MS.Arch, D.Arch, PhD) or related field.
 
5. The post professional degree requirement may be waived for a candidate with a personal record of distinguished practice or research that has been nationally or internationally recognized as exceptional by the profession.
 
6. ***Required qualifications for the ONE YEAR RENEWABLE TERM appointment (#7 & #8)***
 
7. A professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch, M.Arch) OR a record of distinguished environmental design practice or research that has been nationally or internationally recognized as exceptional.
 
8. Demonstrated excellence in architectural design or in an area of specialty listed above.
