Salary $35,000 per year, depending on experience, education and qualifications. Initial appointment is for one year and is renewable for one or more years contingent upon satisfactory work performance, funding and need.

Responsibilities
Research Summary: The research focuses on the design and synthesis of several families of zwitterionic fluorescent molecular probes for use in proteomic research. Synthesis to date has been focused on BODIPY based fluorescent probes, but several different classes of chromophores have been proposed for synthetic study.

Duties and Responsibilities: Conduct research on projects directly related to the main focus of the laboratory. The candidate will be expected to design and conduct experiments, implement research plans, develop required methods, and prepare progress reports. Prepare publications. Assist in the mentoring of other group members. Ability to take direction and work with many individuals as this research involves the combined efforts of several scientists.

 
Required
Qualifications
1.     Ph.D. in organic chemistry with a strong background in synthesis.
 
Preferred
Qualifications
1.     Experience with heteroaromatic synthesis, with some peptide chemistry knowledge.
 
2. Experience with molecular elucidation methods including NMR and mass spectrometry. HPLC experience is desirable.
