Salary Negotiable, depending upon experience and qualifications and includes benefits appropriate to a part-time position. Salary is prorated for employment less than 12 months and for partial months employment. Letter of Appointment, non-tenured, no faculty rank, full-time. Appointments are up to one-year in length and based on need, financial resources, and satisfactory performance, appointments are renewable annually.

Responsibilities
This announcement is for a pool of applicants for POSSIBLE FUTURE vacancies. Seeking full-time Assistant Coaches (in the areas of Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball, Football, Women's Golf, Men's Skiing, Women's Skiing, Men's Tennis, Women's Tennis, Men's and Women's Track and Cross Country, Women's Volleyball, and Strength Training)

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

1. Promote the philosophy and objectives of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, including adhering to all Departmental, University, Big Sky Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations; cooperate with all coaches and administrative staff within the intercollegiate athletics programs to enhance overall departmental operations.

2. Assist with scouting and recruitment of student-athletes, specifically with on- and off-campus visits of prospective student-athletes, as assigned.

3. Assist in coaching student-athletes including evaluating their performance in practices and competition and providing leadership and instruction in areas of deficiencies, as required.

4. Monitor the conditioning and training of student-athletes in conjunction with the strength and conditioning coaches and athletic training staff. Assist in planning and administering the off-season training program.

5. Counsel team members in academic, disciplinary, and personal matters, including consulting with the Head Coach, the Academic coordinator, and the respective Sport Administrator and other university administrators to resolve problems. Assist in monitoring the academic progress and eligibility status of student-athletes including class and study hall attendance.

6. Participate in the collection and analysis of tactical and statistical data of opponent s teams and assist in designing game plans and strategies. Attend coaches preparatory meetings and implement strategies resulting from these meetings. Assist with the development of schedules for practice and competition, as assigned, including interfacing with departmental administrators.

7. Advise and counsel student-athletes regarding their obligations to comply with all rules and regulations related to financial aid and eligibility as well a personal conduct and appearance.

8. Participate in public relations activities, as requested, including granting interviews with newspapers, radio and TV media, attending press conferences, and making public appearances. Consult with assigned sports information staff regarding game preparations and media relations. Represent the Department at professional, civic, charitable, and alumni events, as requested. with planning and coordinating approved fund raising activities, as assigned.

9. Assist with budget preparations, as requested, and operate within approved budget allocations; assist with planning and coordinating approved fund raising activities, as assigned.

10. Assist in coordinating team travel arrangements, as requested. Travel with the team and monitor the conduct of student-athletes.

11. Coordinate with the equipment manager to ensure the necessary athletic equipment is available for scheduled practices and competitive events; monitor the condition of equipment; request repairs or replacement as necessary.

12. Participate in clinics, exhibitions, and camps as approved.

13. Perform all other duties or responsibilities as assigned by the Head Coach, the sport administrator, and/or the Director of Athletics.

 
Required
Qualifications
1.     Bachelor's degree.
 
2. Background of competition or coaching, in the sport for which application is being made, at the professional, collegiate, or high school level.
 
Preferred
Qualifications
1.     Collegiate coaching experience at the NCAA Division I level in the sport for which application is being made.
 
2. Knowledge of/commitment to NCAA rules specifically regarding recruiting.
 
3. Experience developing and motivating student-athletes for athletic and academic success.
 
4. Demonstrated ability in coaching and in recruiting and monitoring for NCAA compliance at the NCAA Division I level.
