Veterinary Molecular Biology

Duties and
Responsibilities
Research Associate position in the Department of Veterinary Molecular Biology using recombinant DNA technology to study host-pathogen interactions in mammalian cells infected with Toxoplasma or Mycobacterium paratuberculosis. Duties may include tissue culture of mouse and human cells, immunofluorescence assays, flow cytometry, RNA isolation and purification, Northern analysis, cDNA synthesis, PCR, Southern analysis, SDS-PAGE, western analysis, molecular cloning and DNA sequencing for the analyses of gene expression, proteomics, immunoprecipitation or gene promoter analyses. Additional requirements will include data compilation, and data reporting associated with the project(s).
 
Required
Qualifications
1.     M.S. or B.S. in biomedical-related discipline.
 
Preferred
Qualifications
1.     Training and experience in one or more of the following technologies: (1) Affymetrix microarray or (2) in vitro translation technologies or (3) yeast two-hybrid analyses or (4) proteomics or (5) gene/promoter expression analyses.
 
The Successful
Candidate Will
also have good organizational, communication, and computer skills, and will be required to establish and maintain constructive working relationships with a wide spectrum of laboratory personnel in a collaborative environment.
