The Health Promotion Program coordinates a variety of campus prevention and wellness programs to enhance the health of the campus community. Health Promotion offers paid positions for student leadership and research opportunities in campus and community health enhancement.
 
Duties and
Responsibilities
The Health Promotion Coordinator/MIP Case Manager will provide coordination, oversight and assistance with all aspects of the Health Promotion substance abuse programs. This individual will also serve as a case manager for the MSU MIP (Minor in Possession) program and will assist in the funding and development of public health approaches to mental health for college students.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills, the ability to interact effectively one-on-one and with small groups, the ability to work effectively as part of a team, and possess effective organizational and computer skills.

Specific duties include:

Working with Health Promotion staff to plan, organize and conduct health promotion and prevention programming on campus. Prevention activities include an on-line alcohol education program, provision of training for campus staff and faculty, and creation of referral strategies for screening and brief alcohol interventions campus-wide.

Serve as the case manager for MSU students sanctioned by the Bozeman court system. This will entail all administrative duties, including intake, arranging educational coursework, community service and other court-mandated activities, tracking progress and reporting compliance to the local court system. Duties also include conducting MIP courses as needed.

Assist Health Promotion staff in building effective primary prevention strategies for mental health issues.

Assisting with grant acquisition and budget management.

Establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships within other campus departments and community agencies.

 
Required
Qualifications
1.     Bachelor's degree in counseling, public health, community health, health promotion or related field.
 
2. Experience working in the field of student substance abuse prevention.
 
3. Experience working with college students on substance abuse related issues.
 
4. Experience organizing health or prevention-related programming.
 
Preferred
Qualifications
1.     Master's degree in a relevant field.
 
2. Knowledge of current theories and practices specific to alcohol abuse prevention, intervention and treatment.
 
3. Experience administering court-sanctioned alcohol education.
 
4. Experience working with community-related prevention coalitions.
