Finance Club
Finance Club is a student-run organization, consisting of roughly 15 active members and another 10-15 casual participants. Students meet every other week (usually on Wednesday evenings); meetings typically involve guest speakers. The Club selects its guest speakers from the local business community, the College of Business alumni base, and the University faculty. Representative speakers from the past year include such names as Leon Royer, president of American Bank and new adjunct professor of finance, Fredd Krepps of Wells Fargo Private Client Services and formerly of D.A. Davidson, and John O'Donnell, executive director of Tech Ranch. The list of presentations includes topics such as careers in the banking industry, venture capital, willingness to embrace and adapt to changes in life, preparing for job interviews, and professors' academic research interests.
The Club has volunteered its services to help raise funds for itself and for charitable causes. Typical activities include forming teams for Bowl For Kids' Sake, and catering tailgate parties for local businesses at MSU Football games.
The Club also holds social events such as a Student-Faculty Afternoon Mixer at Mixer's nightclub, a pumpkin-carving party, a Thanksgiving dinner, and a Christmas party!
