Bruce C. Raymond, PhD
Dr. Raymond earned his PhD in Operations Management at the University of Utah in 1987. He entered the academic profession as assistant professor of operations management at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in September 1986. In the fall of 1990 he came to MSU and in the ensuing years has made numerous contributions to the College of Business. His teaching and scholarship have been recognized through the MSU Alumni Chamber of Commerce Award for Excellence in 1995, by induction into the National Honorary, Phi Kappa Phi, in 1995, and through his selection as the 1998 College of Business Commencement Speaker. During his scholarly career he has published over 25 refereed articles in various journals and proceedings including The Journal of Small Business Management, The JAI Press, Industrial Management, Computer Personnel and The Journal of Education for Business. Dr. Raymond’s fields of inquiry include the simulation of managerial decision making and investigation of learning processes.
In 1995 he was appointed as the AACSB accreditation coordinator and directed the college-wide efforts culminating in the reaffirmation of the college’s accreditation in 1997. In 1997 he served at the university level as the internal auditor for the successful campus-wide NASC reaccredidation process. In 1999 he accepted his current position as Associate Dean of the College of Business. Recent accomplishments include contributions to the successful development of three new minor programs in entrepreneurship and small business management, international business and the management of information technology, as well as the creation of the Center for Entrepreneurship for the New West.
Dr. Raymond has also provided valued service to the college, the university, the community and the academy. He has held numerous college and university committee appointments including chair of the MSU Teaching Learning Committee and Chair of the College of Business Core Curriculum Committee. During his academic career he has served on regional and national boards of the American Production and Inventory Control Society, The Society for Computer Simulation and the Decision Sciences Institute. He currently serves as the past-president of the Western Region of the Decision Sciences Institute. His community activities include current service as the Immediate Past Board Chair for Junior Achievement of Southwest Montana, Board Member for the Bozeman Sunrise Rotary Club and Assistant Scoutmaster in BSA Troop 675. |
