Ed Gamble is an assistant professor of accounting at MSU, joining the College in 2013. He earned a Ph.D. in management from Lancaster University in England, an M.B.A. with emphasis in accounting and economics from University College Dublin in Ireland and his Bachelor of Commerce from the DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University in Canada. Ed is a Certified Management Accountant-Certified Professional Accountant (Canada). From 2008-2011, he was an External Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute of Economics in Germany.

In the past, Ed has taught cost accounting, financial accounting theory, strategic management and business research courses. He also was responsible for developing a case competition program in Canada, which was management accounting focused. Ed’s research focuses on two different domains. The first research focus is social enterprise performance measurement, namely, not-for-profit performance. The second research focus is nascent entrepreneur opportunity. More specifically, Ed focuses on the approaches, behaviors, and contextual factors associated with early-stage entrepreneurs as they recognize, evaluate and exploit opportunities.

In the fall term Ed will be teaching the Masters of Accounting Research course (ACTG 529).
