Dr.
Dennis Schmidt
Dennis Schmidt, professor of accounting, earned a
PhD in accounting from the University of Nebraska. He also holds
a BA in accounting from Michigan State University and an MBA from
the University of Wyoming.
Prior to joining Montana State University in 2005,
Dennis taught at the University of Northern Iowa for 12 years and
the University of Wyoming for seven years. In addition, he spent
a year in New Zealand as a visiting professor at the University
of Otago. His professional designations include CPA and EA (enrolled
agent). Before entering academia, he worked in public accounting
for five years.
Dennis teaches tax and accounting information systems
courses in the accounting option. He also participates in the Volunteer
Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. His research has been published
in a variety of academic and professional journals, including Journal
of the American Taxation Association, Advances in Taxation, Tax Adviser, Journal of Accountancy,
and Academy of Management Journal.
