Christine H. Lamb, Ed.D

As fifth generation Gallatin Valley resident and third generation MSU graduate, Dr. Lamb continues her family tradition of education, service and commitment to her hometown and state – her great grandfather was the first Gallatin Valley superintendent of schools  She began her career as educator teaching high school English at Powell County High School.  In 1980 she returned to Bozeman to earn a Master’s Degree in Counseling and a Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction from Montana State University.  Since 1987, she has held the position of Assistant Dean in the College of Business at Montana State University. 

Among her many duties, she served as co-director of the college freshman seminar program -- an innovative course which has received two national awards for innovation and excellence:  the Decision Sciences Institute Decision Sciences Institute Instructional Innovation Award and the Leavey Award for Excellence in Private Enterprise Education.  Her primary professional research interests are in the areas of critical thinking and service-learning.  She has been instrumental in integrating community service into the first year business curriculum; she has published a number of articles on the benefits of service in student personal and professional development as well as success in college in the Journal of Management Education as well presented at the Western Academy of Management, the Academy of Management, First Year Experience Conferences and AACSB Continuous Improvement Symposia.

Her professional activity has included serving as chair of the self-study steering committee, standard two, for Montana State University’s Comprehensive Evaluation for Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities in 1999 and chair of the academic integrity subcommittee, NCAA Division I Athletics Certification Self Study in 2002.  She has also served as an evaluator for Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, since 2000.  She is a graduate of the Harvard University Management Development Institute and the NACADA Advising Institute.  She is a member of the National Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi and a recipient of two MSU Alumni Chamber of Commerce Awards for Excellence.
