"The Successes and Failures of a Family Business"

About the 2011 Guest Speaker - Gerald Carisch, CEO of Carisch, Inc.


Gerald Carisch is the co-founder and current CEO of Carisch, Inc. He has worn many hats in the company including janitor, president, chairman of the board, and CEO.

In 1990, Gerald along with his brother George, opened their first Arby's restaurant in Fargo, ND which has grown to 85 Arby's restaurants in seven states with more than 1,400 employees. Carisch, Inc. has also owned and operated 95 movie theatres, ARCO (a medical transcription company), and still owns retail and office buildings in Minnesota.

Prior to starting Carisch, Inc., Gerald received his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Minnesota and worked for the Trane Company as a product sales manager. He was also a board member and stockholder of Anchor Bank from 1998-2005.

In his spare time, Gerald spends his time golfing and skiing near Bozeman, pheasant hunting around the state and North Dakota and thoroughly enjoys the frequent company of friends and family.
