Helpful Hints for Completing Application

Ques. 1

You do not have to give actual numbers. Some examples might be, "Our company has doubled its sales in the last ten years"; "we have achieved our company's financial goals consistently over the past years"; or we started with two non-paid employees and now have eight paid employees".  The judges that read these applications recognize that "growth" can have many different meanings for many different businesses and families.

Ques. 2 and 5

Regarding transferring ownership:  it's possible that your business has not faced this situation yet but you can describe how you hope it will happen in the future.

Ques. 3

The family tree is an excellent activity for young children!

Ques. 6

An excellent question for the founder or oldest person in your family to answer.  Some businesses that have gone through several generations have asked members from each generation to describe the history of the firm during their time with the business.  It's important to capture the stories - perhaps on tape - because the history of your family's business is something that should be developed and cherished over the years.
