Master of Professional Accountancy (MPAc) International Students
and the Financial Certificate
Financial
certificate and supporting bank statement(s) are required for all graduate
applications. Students can obtain and attach statements from numerous
relatives' banks stating amount available for student. Funds can be
identified in native currency with a statement of exchange equivalency in
U.S. dollars. Funds do not have to be moved into one account or converted
into U.S. dollars
Our
MPAc Council may review your application without the financial certificate,
but it cannot be forwarded to the university College of Graduate Studies
office without the completed certificate and accompanying bank statements
If
the department approves the application, then the College of Graduate
Studies reviews the application and will notify the student of formal
acceptance to the university with a letter accompanied by an I-20 form.
Students
are not eligible to apply for any U.S. federal aid or financial aid through
the MSU Financial Aid Office. If the student has a relative who has a
"permanent resident" status in the US, they may co-sign on a
student loan.
The
student may work on campus at a maximum of 20hrs/wk in Fall or Spring
semesters and 40 hrs/wk in the summer term.
The
only financial aid available to international students is a departmental
scholarship or a Teaching Assistantship. (Students may not check the 3rd
box if dependent on the department to provide funds, but may check it if a
sponsor is utilized.)
The
College of Business offers only a few, small, merit-based scholarships to
international graduate students. Application for these scholarships is done
only over the Internet through our web site during the month of February
only. A student must have at least a preliminary application on file with us
in order to be considered for a scholarship. The financial certificate must
be completed in its entirety regardless of a pending scholarship
application.
There
are only a few (2-3) graduate teaching assistantships available and it is a
highly competitive process. The interested student must 1) be fully admitted
to the MPAc program, 2) receive a minimum passing grade of 50 on the Test of
Spoken English (TSE), 3) must receive a TOEFL score of 580 (paper test) or
237 (computer test), 4) receive a GMAT verbal score of at least 29 (or a GRE
verbal score of at least 480) verified by official score reports.
