It is imperative that faculty members RSVP in order for us to set enough chairs to ensure that you are all seated together at the front of the arena. 

The Faculty Line of March for the Processional will assemble in the NORTH tunnel of the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse.

Please note: Some faculty will line up in a separate area for the Major Professor & Doctoral Student Processional.  The Associate and Assistant Deans will sit with their individual college bachelor degree candidates. 

  • Assemble in North Tunnel at 8:00 a.m.
  • Processional at 8:40  a.m.
  • Ceremony starts at 9:00 a.m.
  • We aim for a 2-hour run time for the ceremony.

There will be a designated area on the floor in front of Section 111 of bleachers for Faculty members to greet their students as they come off of the stage. It is important that Faculty wishing to greet their students remain in this area to ensure clear lines of sight for photographers and to maintain the flow of traffic.

Student Banner Marshals

Regalia will be provided by Registrar's Office on the day of the Commencement Ceremony. However, please still dress professionally, as you will be representing Montana State University.

Arrive at the Marga Hoseaus Fitness Center for a breakfast briefing at 7:30 a.m.
From there, our staff will accompany you to the staging area in the Basketball/ Volleyball offices at 8:00 a.m.
SIGN IN! There will be a sheet posted on the door, please write legibly. 
Find a gown that fits and collect your banner to carry.
At 8:30 a.m., process to your designated area with your banner. Find your specific college and wait for your turn to enter the arena.
At 8:40 a.m., the music will begin and this will start the processional.
Lead your college in and stand aside while they file into their seats. There will be ushers guiding the students into the seats, so please step back, but do not leave your college until after all of them have been seated in their rows.
Once your college has been seated, process to the back of the arena and place your banner in its proper stand (they will be labeled) then go and stand in front of your chair.
Please remain standing until President Cruzado has asked you to be seated.
Ceremony (taking students across stage):
When prompted, collect your banner, walk to your designated college and usher them to the stage. You will walk across the stage with the banner. There will be a second marshal to guide students to make sure all graduates from that college follow you up to the stage.
After crossing the stage with your banner, return to the floor to the first row of where your college was seated to act as a marker. 
After all students in your college have been seated, please return the banner to the stand and take your seat when done.
After Ceremony:
After ceremony, please take your satin banners back to the Basketball/ Volleyball office.
Hang up your stole and gown, and you are free to go!
