President Cruzado and the Commencement Committee request your presence to acknowledge our students' success and share a celebration of that accomplishment with families and friends at the Spring 2015 Commencement exercises to be held in the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse on Saturday, May 9th, 2015.

 Faculty representation is vital to the Commencement exercises, and we welcome your participation. Notification from you by Thursday, April 30th, 2015 is essential to allow plans and arrangements for seating. Please RSVP via the link below beginning April 1st, 2015.

Commencement Ceremonies

The Faculty Line of March for the Processional will assemble in the South tunnel of the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse.

Please note: Some faculty will line up in a separate area for the Major Professor & Doctoral Student Processional. The Associate and Assistant Deans will sit with their individual college bachelor degree candidates.

Assemble at 8:00 a.m. and the Processional begins at 8:40 a.m. for the Morning ceremony and the following colleges will be celebrated:

  • Agriculture
  • Business
  • Education/Health and Human Development
  • Engineering

Assemble at 12:30 p.m. and the Processional begins at 1:10 p.m. for the Afternoon ceremony and the following colleges will be celebrated:

  • Arts and Architecture
  • Letters and Science
  • Nursing
  • Gallatin College

CAP AND GOWN ARE REQUIRED

ATTENTION FACULTY! NEED CHILDCARE SO YOU CAN ATTEND COMMENCEMENT?

With the generous support of the Provost, ADVANCE Project TRACS, and the College of Education, Health and Human Development, the MSU Child Development Center (CDC) is pleased to be able to offer FREE childcare so that faculty and staff may attend the SPRING 2015 Commencement exercises. 

The CDC is MSU’s laboratory school, and will be staffed during graduation by trained and certified teachers and their assistants. 

Registration is first come/first served, with up to 20 spots available per session for kids age 3 – 10. Session 1 will go from 8:00 – 11:00 a.m. Session 2 will go from 12:30 – 3:30 p.m. 

Note: a minimum of 5 children per session is required, or the session will be cancelled with appropriate advance notice.

Student Banner Marshals

Regalia

Regalia will be provided by Registrar's Office on the day of the Commencement Ceremony. However, please dress professionally, as you will be representing Montana State University.

Commencement Ceremony

Preparation:
  • Arrive dressed up in Basketball/ Volleyball offices at 8:00 a.m.
  • Breakfast will be provided-help yourselves!
  • Find a gown that fits and collect your banner to carry.
  • At 8:30 a.m., process to your designated area with your banner. Find your specific college and wait for your turn to enter the arena.
Processional:
  • At 8:40 a.m., the music will begin and this will start the processional.
  • Lead your college in and stand aside while they file into their seats. There will be ushers guiding the students into the seats, so please step back, but do not leave your college until after all of them have been seated in their rows.
  • Once your college has been seated, process to the back of the arena and place your banner in its proper stand (they will be labeled) then go and stand in front of your chair.
  • Please remain standing until President Cruzado has asked you to be seated.
Ceremony (taking students across stage):
  • When prompted, collect your banner, walk to your designated college and usher them to the stage. You will walk across the stage with the banner. There will be a second marshal to count students to make sure all graduates from that college follow you up to the stage.
  • After crossing the stage with your banner, return to the floor to the first row of where your college was seated to act as a marker. 
  • After all students in your college have been seated, please return the banner to the stand and take your seat when done.

After Ceremony:

  • After ceremony, please take your satin banners back to the Basketball/ Volleyball office.

Please make sure you are back to the Basketball/Volleyball office by 12:15 p.m. to begin preparation for the Afternoon ceremony!
