Prospective Students Getting Involved

Moving to a new school and community can be very intimidating.  Getting involved in service early in your college career can help you feel connected to the MSU and Bozeman community.  The MSU Office for Community Involvement (OCI) is here to help you connect to people and organizations that share your interests and passions.  There are multiple ways an MSU student can get involved in the campus and Bozeman community.

Here are some OCI program highlights:

Kickoff Trails Service Project:
This project is intended to introduce new students to our local trail system, get to know other students and make a positive impact on the community. We will work with the Gallatin Valley Land Trust on local trail projects.

BreaksAway
Instead of going to Cancun for spring break, students choose to travel to another part of the country and provide service to a community in need.  We typically send three trips each spring break, so there are a variety of options for you to choose from.  We will also be sending a WeekendAway trip Fall 2010 to a Montana community.  Check out the BreaksAway section of our website to find out more about this great program.

Service Saturdays:
We offer once a month service projects called Service Saturdays.  Beginning Fall 2009, the 1st Saturday of the month, October through May.  This is a perfect way for busy students to get involved in the community!

10,000 Hours Project:
This project is a great way to volunteer and get a great reward!  Student volunteers who complete 10 hours with a non-profit organization receive a free ticket to a concert which is put on just for volunteers.

MSU America Reads*America Counts (ARAC)
If you enjoy working with kids, this program is for you!  We match volunteers with local school kids who need assistance in math or literacy.  Volunteer and work-study positions are available.
