Larkin heads Smithsonian conference examining portraits important to early American history

Todd Larkin, MSU art history professor, is co-director of a conference examining “Political Portraiture in the United States and France during the Revolutionary and Federal Eras, ca. 1776-1814.” The conference, which will attract scholars from the U.S. and Europe, will be held Sept 25-26 at the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery. MSU undergraduate’s 8.25 percent solution earns him publication in international journal

A paper written by Michael Ruiz, a senior at MSU majoring in anthropology, on a technique he developed for defleshing bones by increasing the proportion of undiluted bleach was published in the International Journal of Arts and Sciences. Ruiz is an untraditional student in the Honors College who dropped out of high school in his native Los Angeles, but found a passion for anthropology while a freshman at MSU. Read more...
