BOZEMAN -- Gretchen Rupp, director of the Montana University System Water Center based at MSU, is currently serving as president of the National Institutes for Water Resources. The 54 institutes, established by Congressional charter in 1964, are based at public universities in each U.S. state and territory. They are charged with conducting research, educating future water professionals and conducting outreach to water specialists and the public. Rupp is an environmental engineer, as well as director of the Montana Water Center.
