MSU technologist wins national award

BOZEMAN -- Renee Arens, a laboratory animal technologist at Montana State University's Animal Resources Center, won a 2006 Animal Technician Travel Award from Lab Products, Inc. The award will be presented Oct. 17 at the national meeting of the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science in Salt Lake City.
Arens won the award for District Eight of the organization, which includes the 10-state region of Montana, Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington. The award paid Arens' registration and travel expenses to the national meeting. It gave her $250, a plaque and a one-year membership to the organization.
Arens provides husbandry services for laboratory animals. She performs various veterinary technical procedures for MSU researchers.
