MSU student Ty McDonald receives national fellowship
November 21, 2006
BOZEMAN -- Ty McDonald of Geyser recently received an International Stockmen's Education Foundation Travel Fellowship to the 2007 International Livestock Congress in Denver.
McDonald, a Montana State University senior in agricultural business and animal science, will travel to the congress in January. He was one of 13 students from the United States and the only student in Montana to receive the travel fellowship. Students from 21 universities in nine other countries also received fellowships.
The 2007 International Livestock Congress is funded in part by the National Cattlemen's Foundation. Its purpose is to bring producers, retailers, packers and others in the industry together to build global beef networks and discuss emerging issues.
"I plan to be involved in the livestock industry for the rest of my life, so this meeting should be beneficial to me," McDonald said.
After the congress, the travel fellowship requires that McDonald write a professional paper, which he will submit to both the International Stockmen's Education Foundation and to his department.
