Elton John to perform at MSU Sept. 29

August 28, 2007
Elton John's performance set Sept. 29 in the fieldhouse is expected to be MSU's largest concert, according to MSU concert organizers.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, for the Sept. 29 Montana State University performance of rock legend Elton John and his band, the largest concert ever hosted at MSU.

Elton John will appear live at 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, in Brick Breeden Fieldhouse as part of the 2007 Tour: Rocket Man Number Ones. Tickets prices are set at $87 and $67, with $2 of the ticket price being donated to the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

"We are extremely excited and honored in our 50th anniversary year to host an artist of the caliber of Elton John," said Duane Morris, director of events and marketing at MSU. "This will be the largest concert we have ever hosted in our arena. Were thrilled to have a tremendous weekend of entertainment with Elton John on Saturday night, coupled with Cat/Griz volleyball on Friday, and Bobcats vs. Idaho State football on Saturday."

Elton John and his band, including members Davey Johnstone on guitar, Guy Babylon on keyboards, Bob Birch on bass, John Mahon on percussion and Nigel Olsson on drums, will play his greatest hits and more recent songs from his latest release, "Rocket Man Number Ones," released in March.

Elton John has sold more than 200 million records and continues to add innovative work to his personal repertoire of 29 consecutive Top 40 hits, 35 gold and 25 platinum albums. He received the Best British Male Artist Brit Award 1991, was inducted into Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame, 1994, received five Grammy Awards from 1986-2000, received the Grammy Legend Award in 2001, received the Kennedy Center Honor in 2004. He was knighted in 1996 by Queen Elizabeth II and has raised millions of dollars for charities worldwide.

Reserved tickets for Elton John will be available at the Fieldhouse box office, all Ticketswest outlets including, Borders Books & Music in Bozeman, Cactus Records, and the Strand Union Building; by phone at (1-800) 325-SEAT and (1-800) 808-5940 or online at www.ticketswest.com.
