Reception and program in honor of Women's History Month set for March 25

March 11, 2008
A reception and program in honor of the national Women's History Month is set for Tuesday, March 25, in SUB ballroom B. The reception will begin at 5:30 p.m., and the program will follow at 6 p.m.

The program will focus on MSU's Lady Bobcats and their achievements, and it will feature Lady Bobcats Coach Tricia Bader-Binford as the keynote speaker.

In addition, the MSU Women's Center and the MSU Alumni Association -- the sponsors of the event -- will honor "Student of Achievement" award winners. These students were selected for promoting equality, demonstrating leadership abilities, excelling in their school work, and serving as strong role models for their peers.

The 2008 Student of Achievement award winners are:

Elisabeth Driscoll: track and field, mechanical engineering, German.

Sarah Eby: track and field, health and human development, psychology.

Erin Goodman: basketball, business marketing.

Nuria Hernandez: tennis, business management.

Fawn Kirkpatrick: track and field, political science.

Tegan Molloy: ASMSU president, motion picture/theatre/video, Spanish and international business.

Fraiser Danforth Opel: skiing, accounting, University Honors.

Amy Plummer: track and field, agricultural education, elementary education.

Katherine Proietti: tennis, media and theater arts, Spanish.

Stephanie Simmons: golf, business accounting.

Kate Steffanich: golf, health promotion.

Karoline Teien: skiing, business management, international business.

The event is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be served. For more information or to RSVP, contact Betsy Danforth at the Women's Center at 994-3836.
